CUPE 410 Supporting Our Community

CUPE 410 made its annual donation to the United Way of Greater Victoria in December 2020. Thank you to Kelly Lisson and Sally Winters for representing CUPE 410 at the cheque presentation. At the presentation, the UWGV’s Director of Donor and Partner Relations, Dave Ramsay, spoke these words:

Thank you to CUPE Local 410 for your commitment to the United Way.

–          We appreciate your loyalty and commitment to community

–          This year more than ever your generosity will go to feeding and providing company to isolated seniors; it will go to initiatives like bringing the Phoenix Day – first of its kind to help children who have experienced traumas none of us here could likely relate to recover and feel safe in the world again, or to provide counselling for those suffering from mental health and addiction challenges.    In your roles at the library you see and deal with many of these souls.

–          Your gift today helps with all of that and more. Your gift shows resiliency and hope as we all work to rally to recovery during this pandemic.

The United Way of Greater Victoria values and appreciates the relationship we have with CUPE 410 and all our labour partners.   We could not do the work we do without the commitment of people like you.

At our January 2021 General Membership meeting, a motion was passed to make a donation to Our Place Society, in support of the Coldest Night of the Year event. Another motion was passed to make a donation to the Red Cedar Café.

Thank you to all our members for your continued support of these vital community organizations.
